The Children and Young People’s Service brings together Education Services and Children’s Social Care (including the Youth Offending Team) to ensure that North Yorkshire children and young people receive joined-up and effective services. The service aims to improve outcomes for all children so that they are healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being.

The Directorate is in the process of re-structuring to ensure that service delivery is integrated, and consists of a number of services, each led by an Assistant Director:
